Francesca Corradini

I made jewellery entirely by hand, unique pieces.
I work alone because I like to be inside every jewel.
I love working at night: in silence, I find my space and my time.
I start from ideas and use my hands to forge metals and transform them into sculptures to wear: I don’t design, I directly shape each prototype. It’s the material that through colour, shape, or thickness, suggests the processing to me.
I work exclusively with cold welding and antique tools from a nineteenth-century studio: hammers, saws, screwdrivers, files, awls, pliers, cutters, scissors, sandpaper, and pillows filled with desert sand.
I prefer poor metals: brass, bronze, copper, and silver. An antioxidant treatment preserves these materials in their splendour.
